JANET LIPPMANN
Beautiful colors and shapes have attracted me all of my life, beginning as a child observing the endlessly changing patterns of white cloud formations in a vast blue sky. I still see the world as a series of paintings. I see colors first, shapes second, and Nature inspires much of my work. I paint flowers, gardens and landscapes in oil and pastel in a realistic yet impressionistic manner.
With an M.A. in Art and Education, I have taught art, founded and directed the River Gallery for many years, and raised a family, painting whenever I could. Traveling alone to paint at Giverny, Monet’s gardens in France, was a life-changing experience, and shortly thereafter I decided to paint full time. A story I wrote about this experience was published in the March 1988 issue of American Artist Magazine.
My membership in several professional organizations include the National Arts Club, The Salmagundi Club, The Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club, Art du Pastel en France, The Pastel Society of America, National Association of Painters in America, and the Hudson Valley Art Association.
My paintings are in numerous public and private collections in the USA and abroad. In addition to participating in many group shows, and winning awards for oils, watercolors and pastels, I have had one-person exhibitions at the River Gallery, Irvington-on-Hudson, N.Y., the Martucci Gallery at the Irvington Public Library, Westchester Community College, Brooklyn College, The National Arts Club, N.Y.C., the Newington Cropsey Foundation Gallery, Hastings-on-Hudson,N.Y.,and Rockefeller State Park Preserve Gallery, Pleasantville, N.Y.

JANET LIPPMANN PAINTINGS, 1986-2006 was self published in 2007.
Much of my artwork was created at the studio I have maintained for 33 years at The National Arts Club, 15 Gramercy Park South, New York,N.Y. 10003.
